The Oxford Botanic Garden consists of  ”collections of plants that are grown for purposes other than purely aesthetic reasons”

Highlights of my visit: 

I saw the banana tree and the sugar cane plant. Nostalgic.

I got to see the rice and cotton plant. As a child, I could not get my head round the fact that a plant could produce Cotton. I felt its a task to technical for a plant to accomplish.

I had a preview of  desert plants and how they survive.

Incorrigible Idiot!

On the other hand, there are people who feel that the death penalty should be abolished. They argue that:

- It robs repentant prisoners of redemption

- An innocent person wrongly accused may die because of judicial error or police error.

- A state’s definition of crime is subjective. For example, Hamza Kashgari from Saudi Arabia may be charged with apostasy (renunciation of ones religion) – an act punishable by death – for remarks he made on Twitter.

I think the death penalty is a form of  revenge. A public vengeance…  although we know that vengeance achieves little.

It is a big question. What do you think?

We only see what we want to see…

I find this talk by Chimamanda very inspiring. We are responsible for what we feed our brains with.

I deducted two meanings from this stare:

1. If you are going to be  lawyer, you will come across a variety of cases. Some will definitely be shocking or conflict with your moral standard but hey, get use to it.
2. When you are in court, either defending or prosecuting, you should not let your opponent read your thoughts through your face. It is synonymous to letting your guard down.

I read all this from a single stare and I learnt. Maybe I read too much meaning into it but hey *shrugs*
